My Approach

                                                    My Approach

My work integrates Solution-Focused Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, and Attachment Theory, combining neuroscience and practical strategy. Together, we identify what’s working, understand what’s getting in the way, and design tools that fit the way your brain operates.

Whether you’re starting college, entering the workforce, or redefining your path post-graduation, I help you:

• Strengthen executive functioning and follow-through

• Build structure that supports independence

• Manage anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt

• Reframe setbacks into growth opportunities

• Harness creativity to design a life you’re proud of

Why Strengthening Executive Functioning Matters

Executive functioning is the brain’s control center the set of mental skills that helps us plan, prioritize, organize, manage time, regulate emotions, and follow through. It’s the system that transforms good intentions into consistent action.

For many young adults especially those who are neurodivergent or grew up in high-pressure or inconsistent environments—these skills didn’t have the chance to fully develop. When parents, teachers, or systems did much of the structuring and emotional regulation, the brain didn’t get enough real-world practice.

From a neurological standpoint, these functions are governed by the prefrontal cortex the part of the brain responsible for self-management and long-term decision-making. It’s also one of the last regions to fully mature, typically around age 25 in neurotypical individuals. For those who are neurodivergent, that development can be delayed by two to three years, sometimes extending into the late twenties.

That means many bright, capable young adults are being asked to demonstrate mastery in areas where their brain is still literally under construction. This developmental gap can look like:

   •    Starting strong but losing steam midway through projects.
   •    Feeling overwhelmed or paralyzed when too many tasks pile up.
   •    Needing pressure or crisis to activate motivation.
   •    Having creative bursts but no consistent structure to sustain them.
   •    Feeling shame for not “living up” to what others see as potential.

Strengthening executive functioning is about rewiring the brain for self-leadership. Through intentional practice and structured routines, we help the brain build new neural connections that support focus, organization, and emotional regulation. Each small success tells your brain, “I can rely on myself.” Over time, this creates confidence, resilience, and momentum—the foundation of independent adulthood.

Building Structure and Independence

True independence isn’t just about moving out or paying your own bills it’s about learning to lead yourself. It’s the daily discipline of creating structure that supports your goals, values, and well-being, even when motivation is low.

Structure doesn’t mean rigidity; it means designing systems that make your life easier to manage. That might look like:
   •    Setting visual cues that externalize memory and reduce overwhelm.
   •    Building short, repeatable routines for mornings, evenings, or study blocks.
   •    Using accountability tools or body-doubling to increase focus.
   •    Breaking big goals into small, trackable steps that build momentum.
   •    Maintaining consistent habits around sleep, nutrition, and movement to stabilize mood and energy.

Each small system you create is an act of self-respect it tells your brain, “I am worth the effort of being supported.” Over time, these micro-structures create macro-change: less chaos, more clarity, and a calm confidence that carries into every area of life.

Harnessing Creativity as a Source of Strength

Many of the young adults I work with are deeply creative artists, musicians, writers, entrepreneurs, and big thinkers who see the world through a different lens. But creativity without structure can lead to overwhelm or paralysis. When your brain generates too many ideas and not enough sequence, it’s easy to feel scattered, inconsistent, or unsure where to start.

That’s why I help clients organize their creativity instead of stifling it. We build systems that protect inspiration rather than smother it—habits that allow creative energy to flow with direction and purpose.

Creativity and executive function don’t need to compete. When they learn to collaborate, you stop fighting against your wiring and start working with it. You begin to see your unique mind not as something to “fix,” but as something to optimize. Your creativity becomes fuel for action, not a source of frustration

Diet-Diet-Diet!

Remember that old saying: "You are what you eat?"  It's true. What we put into our bodies affects how we think, react and regulate our emotions.  Some people are hypersensitive to what they put into their bodies while others do not see or feel any different. It's the ones who are greatly affected to need to sit and take notes! Red, yellow and blue dyes as well as nitrates can play a very large role in one's ability to manage their behavior and self regulate. Sugar is another area that needs to be monitored. Protein is our friend!!  A great way to start the day.  It helps our brain to focus, our body to self regulate and provide energy to get tasks done!  Another friend and not a foe is water!! Hydration is the key to a harmonious household.

Therapeutic Approach

Evidence-Based Practices: I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and Solution-Focused Therapy to address ADHD/ADD-related difficulties effectively.

Collaborative and Strength-Based: My approach emphasizes collaboration and focuses on each client’s and family’s unique strengths to create meaningful progress.

By combining individualized strategies with practical tools for parents, I help families and individuals create a more harmonious and supportive environment, empowering them to thrive despite the daily challenges
